Sauna + Yoga
This small-scale project, done in collaboration with Rafael Herrin-Ferri, has the role of maximizing the enjoyment of a narrow peninsula jutting out from Number Nine Island. It's bent-bar form hugs the water's edge on one side, while creating a gathering space to the south.
The roof rises from the small, cabin-like volume of the sauna to a generous 18' high, multi-purpose room. Separating these two spaces is a breezeway that leads down to a dock. A large, east-facing window orients the practice of yoga in the multi-purpose room, while also acting as a beacon for the island on Goose Bay.
